When your perfect Valentine's day involves skiing
We know we're biased, we know we're obsessed...but our perfect Valentine's Day consists of skiing, romance and a bit more skiing with some romance thrown in!
Yes we know Valentine's Day falls in the half term school holidays and we know the resorts are going to be busy...but isn't that all part of it? The bubbling noises of kids, the laughter and anecdotes in the ski lift queues, the chances of sunshine and snow on the slopes in a five minute period? All this is the craziness of February skiing! But love is crazy too, no?
So let's take a bit of time to think about our best day with our loved one and if we can grab a moment or two for romance, all to the good!
The views, the mountains, the snow, the charming mountain restaurant nestled in the woods or up on the edge of the slopes, sparkling lights and fresh air. What is not to love?
There, that's the setting sorted!
Here at Vanity Towers, otherwise known as Winternational HQ, having the perfect outfit for the most Snowmantic day of the year is vital. Making your self feel special is just a part of what is going to make the whole day special. Lifting your own spirits and confidence combined with the glow from the fresh air, a well chosen outfit can really make a world of difference.
Some go red all over (!) in Fusalp's Montana or Goldbergh's Hida with Paris red ski pants whilst others opt for the illusion of romance in the soft feather like ski jacket called Aya by Goldbergh.
For others metallics are the thing. We love silver or silver print, its stunning and unusual and makes the ultimate impact. Emmegi's Bella or Dale ski jacket is the best case in point. Fitted, alluring and with a luxurious hood to hug you if you like (see we haven't forgotten the singles!)
And if that is not enough, we're thinking accessories too! Albus & Flora's Snowberry Red lip balm is for the softest most kissable lips. Goldbergh's Hando luxury fur covered soft leather mittens for warm hands. Ward off the old tale of cold hands, cold heart and opt for maximum warmth in these snuggly mittens. And for your head...top it off with a fab fur pom pom hat or Sportalm's Irina trapper hat for cuteness and cosiness!
Skiing with kids..top tips for romance is...excellent childcare. T4 Nannies are among the very best and offer these suggestions. Pack a few new and a few old and well-loved toys for both adventure and familiarity. Bring a small amount of emergency supplies along the lines of baby wipes, plasters and painkillers would be a great idea too. Don’t bring lots – there are plenty of shops and pharmacies in most ski resorts. If you can get sample sizes so much the better for popping in your or your kids ski jacket. T4 Nannies are all handpicked and their service is fully flexible. If your plans change, your nanny can adapt to your changing requirements. Super helpful! Lunches can be prepared by the nanny at your chalet, or if you prefer, the children can meet you up in the mountain at lunchtime at an Alpine restaurant. Such a great opportunity for fun and games and letting the youngest ones have exposure to the mountains and snowy setting and snowball fights too. The nannies allow plenty of time for quite times, stories and arts and crafts.
But if you prefer to have the gang skiing with you, sometimes a shared glance over coffee of hot chocolate or eye roll (depending on the behaviour and level of cuteness) with your partner can be enough.
And when the coffee looks like this and comes with cake then all the better!
And now for apres...we're not going to pry honest! But our suggestion would be to wear what feels good next to your skin and cashmere springs to mind. Team Winternational are huge fans of Wyse London cashmere for work, play and cosy nights in. The splash of sequins on the Wyse London Flo sweaters are just the things for the dressed but not too dressed look. It's a garment you will wear and people will ask Where! Take soft cashmere in muted tones of taupe or grey and add a pocket of sequins or a ziggy lightning stripe and there you have it. Relaxed but chic!
And if pink is more your thing...we are proud to show off the beautiful Emmegi Geena ski jacket in soft pink!
What's more it's exclusive to Winternational this winter!
Figure hugging, fluid lines, flattering shape, longer length, sumptuous fur trimmed hood, wrist warmers...the list is endless!
Whatever you get up to and whoever you are with, we wish you and yours a very Special and Stylish Valentine's Day
With love (of course)!
